Annual FC 4-H Fair begins Monday

The 2018 Franklin County 4-H Fair will return on July 16-21, with pre-fair project judging happening July 11-15.

The poultry and meat goat show will kick off the fair Monday at 9 a.m., followed by the sheep show at 3 p.m. All exhibits will be open for viewing Monday evening, and the 4-H awards presentation and 10-year member awards will be presented at 8:30 p.m.

Tuesday is Ribeye Day with the beef and starter calf show beginning at 9 a.m. The rabbit ambassador contest begins at 2 p.m. followed by the rabbit show at 5 p.m. Dance Review by Vicki's Studio of Dance will also be Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

Wednesday is Pork Day with the swine show starting at 9 a.m. The 4-H pet show, horse and pony demo and the 4-H talent show will all take place that evening. Wednesday is also family fun day, which is new to the fair. Day of registration is first-come-first-serve. Family fun day will start at 6 p.m., and there will be an obstacle course, pie eating contest, tug-of-war and a celebrity sheep show.

The dairy cattle and dairy goat show will be Thursday morning. The baby show will also be on Thursday at 6:30 p.m., followed by the 4-H showman of showmen contest and the kiddie pedal pull both starting at 7 p.m.

Friday is livestock checkout day, and mini 4-H building tours will take place at 10 a.m. Fairgrounds cleanup is Saturday at 9 a.m.

The grandstand events are as follows:

• Monday, July 16 - 7 p.m.: Demolition Derby

• Tuesday, July 17 - 7 p.m.: TBA

• Wednesday, July 18 - 5 p.m.: Family Fun Day

• Thursday, July 19 - 7 p.m.: Truck and Tractor Pull

• Friday, July 21 - 7 p.m.: Flat Drags

• Saturday, July 22 - 5 p.m.: Flat Drags

Pit tickets for the grandstand events happening Monday and Thursday-Saturday are $15. General admission for adults 17 and up are $10. Children age 6-16 are $5, and children $5 and under can get in for free. Armband nights are Monday, Thursday and Saturday.
