Branstetter nets Academic All-State

On Friday evening, October 6, Franklin County varsity girls’ golfer, Dana Branstetter, received the IHSAA Academic All-State award at The Golf Club of Zionsville.

There were 60 applicants for the honor, and only 15 girls were selected. Academic All-State is based on GPA, SAT and ACT scores, as well as how a player contributes to their team.

A qualifying athlete must compete in 50 percent of their team’s meet and participate in a year-end sectional tournament.

“Dana has always given 100 percent to her team and school work,” FC head coach Marisa Mears said. “The award couldn’t have been given to a more deserving student-athlete.”

Fellow senior Wildcat, Kendyl Brack, was awarded an IHSAA Academic All-State Honorable Mention based on her achievements on the golf course and in the classroom.
