Libecap earns academic honor

Former Lady Wildcat softball player and Franklin County High School graduate, Summer Libecap, was named to 2016-17 All-America Scholar Athlete Team last month, according to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. Currently a sophomore at Northern Kentucky University, Libecap carried a 3.5 grade-point average or higher to earn the award.

During her freshman season with the NKU Norse, Libecap appeared in 35 games. She split time in the outfield and as a designated player. She scored nine runs and batted .313 (5-for-16) at the plate, while driving in two runs.

The former Wildcat was one of five NKU players that were honored as All-America Scholar Athlete. Isabell Alexander, Taylor Brummell, Alexis McDaniel and Toree Stalter were all honored.

A total of 1,843 NCAA Division I student-athletes were selected to 2016-17 All-America Teams. A record 7,351 softball players were selected, across seven membership divisions.
