Wildcats win at home, lose on the road
The FC boys’ varsity basketball team picked up its second home win of the year last week before losing in triple-overtime two days later.
On Thursday, Feb. 1, the Wildcats took out North Decatur, 58-39, at FCHS. The first half was dominated by FC, 28-12, allowing the team to cruise to victory in the second half.
On Saturday afternoon, the Wildcats went the distance at Hagerstown, falling in three extra periods, 79-76. Franklin County owned a 30-29 advantage at halftime, but the Tigers pulled even at the end of regulation. Neither teams could gain an advantage in the first two extra periods, but a three-point advantage for the home team in the third overtime did the trick.
The Wildcats were led in scoring by Trevor Murray in both games. The senior deposited 27 points in the scoring column against North Decatur, then dropped 25 more on the Tigers.
Murray’s performance against Hagerstown marked the third straight game scoring at least 25 points.
The Wildcats will visit Greenfield Central on Friday, Feb. 9. The next night, FC hosts Switzerland County. Both nights are scheduled to start at 6 p.m. with the reserve contest.
