Library Open House is Sunday
By John Estridge, Editor
Franklin County Public Library District will unveil its new addition to the Brookville library with an open house Sunday afternoon, Sept. 16.
It will take place from 2-4 p.m.
The new addition was built without raising taxes. Money was saved up for several years in order to construct the addition, which doubles the space for the Brookville Library.
On the ground floor is the new Children’s Library as well as the Teen Library.
There are small study rooms and small rooms for small groups to meet and talk.
On the top floor are two meeting rooms, which can be combined for one large meeting room. It is equipped with audio and visual equipment.
With the Children’s Library moving from the ground floor at its present location to the new building, the Genealogy Department is expanding from its small room into where the Children’s Library vacated.
The new addition is connected to the other library building through a tunnel on the first floor underneath the alley.
Access to the addition is also available through a door off the alley and on the southeast side where the massive windows are located.
The public is invited to tour the new addition and the expanded Genealogy Department during the Open House.
