Golfers win EIAC dual have EIAC tourney delayed

By John Estridge, Sports Editor

Franklin County’s talented golf team won the last Eastern Indiana Conference dual meet of the season.

However, Tropical Storm Gordon curtailed the team’s attempt to win its fourth straight conference crown Saturday, Sept. 8.

That meant the golfers had to play nine holes on Monday, Sept. 10 and nine more on Thursday, Sept. 13.

In the dual meet against host Lawrenceburg, the Wildcats came away with an easy 178-216 victory.

Junior Ashlan Hill was the medalist with a 42. She was followed by fellow junior Maggie Brack’s 43. Senior Abby Orschell shot a 46 while sophomores Gracie Graf and Camryn Brewer shot 47 and 48, respectively.

Erin Hesselbrock led the junior varsity team with a 49. Taylor McCreary and Sam Ebrens each shot 52s while Kelsie Brackney had a 56. All four JV scores were personal bests for the golfers.

Results for the first nine holes of the conference meet were unavailable as of press time.
