By Makenna Mays, Staff Writer
The annual First Responders Memorial Service will take place Friday, May 17, at 6 p.m. on the courthouse lawn, weather permitting.
The memorial pays homage to the Franklin County First Responders who have been killed in the line of duty.
Newly appointed Brookville Police Chief Terry Mitchum will welcome everyone to the ceremony. Father Vincent Lampert will attend the ceremony to give the opening and closing prayers. As in past years, someone will sing the “National Anthem.”
Franklin County Sheriff Peter Cates will read roll call of those whose names are on the memorial. The American Legion will take part in the ceremony, and Terry Schwab will play “Taps.” The program will close with a closing prayer from Fr. Lampert.
The public and family members of the fallen are invited to attend. Those attending may want to bring blankets or lawn chairs. People may also sit in the gazebo or at the picnic table on the courthouse lawn.
