UCHS Talent Show: good food and good entertainment

By Marissa E. Lane, Staff Writer

The Union County High School Student Council’s annual U.C.H.S. Talent Show was a delightful evening of entertainment. Not only entertainment, but a Spaghetti Dinner from LaRosa’s to boot, all courtesy of Student Council, high school vocalists, musicians and a bit of comedy sprinkled throughout by Master of Ceremonies, Travis Lang and all without charge.

First place ($100) went to Karagan Reuss accompanied by Noah Pavey on the guitar for their presentation of “Breezeblocks.”

Second place ($50) was Maddie Freeman performing “Let It Go.”

Third place ($25) was won by Emily Pitcher’s performance of “Rumor Has It.”

“Union County has talent,” Judge Diane Warner said. Warner is a Talent Agent in Cincinnati. “Not only the winners but all of the contestants. It takes a lot to get up there and do that.”

UCHS music teachers Debra Allbright and Kyle Voegle were also judges.

Other Talent Show contestants were:

•Shelby Burns performing “Don’t Forget to Remember Me”

•Morgan Ball, Brady Hill, Erica Ball performing “Everlong”

•Cameron Fox performing “Be Strong”

Further entertainment included Mrs. Allbright’s beautiful piano solo, Beethoven’s “Fur Elise.”

Last but not least, Student Council’s exhibition act was a good closer. Acting out the popular television show, “Are you Smarter than a Freshman?” with UCHS Social Studies teacher, Patrick Tafelski as the moderator.

Senior Evan Couser and freshman Derrick Grissom went up against senior Levi

Logue and freshman Morgan Krom. After two questions and a tie-breaker, Tafelski declared the two teams finished in a tie.
