Trisha Persinger newest council member

By Elisabeth Dodd, Staff Writer

Union County Republicans held a closed caucus Thursday night, Sept. 6 and elected Trisha Persinger to fill the council vacancy in District Four left by Tim Williams.

Last month, Williams was elected Union County Commissioner, and now Persinger will take over his term until Dec. 31 at which time the seat will be up for a caucus election again for a full, four-year term.

Williams is currently unopposed on the ballot for council District Four.

At this time, his name cannot be removed. Thus, after the election, he has the opportunity to resign either from commissioners or council. If council, then an election caucus will be held for that position within 30 days of Jan. 1.

Trisha Persinger is the executive director of the Union County Council on Aging and Aged.

Jerry Kahl and Courtney Tipton also filed for the position.
