UCHS cheerleaders, runners-up in Tri-Eastern Conference

By Vivian Risch, Contributor

The Union County High School’s cheerleading competition team came away with second-place at the 2018 Tri-Eastern Conference Cheerleading competition this week after a bit of confusion.

Lincoln athletic director Rob Bills announced the first three teams beginning at the bottom – Third-place Union County, second-place Winchester, first place Hagerstown.

But when score sheets were handed out, it didn’t add up.

“There were miscalculations,” UC coach Kelsey Dare said. “And we actually got second.”

The Patriots Cheerleaders Competition team was second only to the massive Hagerstown team of 30, including seven guys, and Winchester dropped to third.

Cheerleaders from six-of-the-nine TEC schools performed two-and-a-half minute routines before a panel of judges. Competing schools were: Lincoln, Northeastern, Hagerstown, Winchester, Tri and Union County. Centerville, Knightstown and Union City did not compete.

Union County Cheerleading Competition Team members are: Madeline Powers, Kamryn Brock, Kendall Jones, Sarah Myers, Sophia Tolford, Kelly Bruns, Anna Buckler, Abbigail Hampton, Harleigh Keasling, Kaleah Louden and coaches Kelsey Dare, Melissa Davis and Libby Brashears.
