Franklin County boys soccer team tied Trinity Lutheran High School 3-3 Saturday, Sept. 28 with senior Reese Catron completing a hat trick.

Junior Cole Rapp had 14 saves while allowing only three goals.

“The Cats were able to get Trinity Lutheran to be offsides seven times,” FC coach Jeff Essen said.

The match was tight the entire 80 minutes as the two teams were tied 2-2 at half. Each team scored on goal in the last 40 minutes.

On Tuesday, Oct. 1, at the Connersville pitch, the host Spartans defeated FC 6-1 in Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference action.

“Connersville controlled the game from the beginning whistle,” Essen said. “They took 23 shots on goal.”

At halftime, it was 5-0.

Rapp had 17 saves. Catron had FC's one goal.

“The Wildcats were able to draw off sides on the Spartans nine times,” Essen said.

On Monday, Sept. 30, FC lost to host Hauser 4-0.

The Jets led 2-0 at halftime and doubled down in the second half.

“Not a lot of shots were taken by either team,” Essen said. “Hauser made the best of the few shots taken scoring four on the evening.”

Rapp and sophomore Levi Sanders combined for six saves and each allowed two goals. FC took four shots on goal and a total of eight shots throughout the match.

FC travels to the Class 2A Rushville Sectional. The Wildcats play Batesville at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9.
Batesville 6-7-1 defeated FC 11-0 very early in the season
