With one minute, 13 seconds remaining in the game at Morristown last week, the clock stopped to make the following announcement which  drew hearty applause from fans throughout the gymnasium.

“Ladies and gentlemen, Union County’s Madison Gray just scored her 1,000 career point.”

Morristown Athletic Director Brian Graham then beckoned Gray to join him on court, where he presented her with the game ball and offered his congratulations as fans continued to applaud.

Gray is a junior forward with the Lady Patriots with impressive stats.

This year alone, she is averaging 20-plus points per game (ppg) for a total of 333 points with at least six games remaining to be played.
Gray’s stats for the current season (16 games)...123-of-267 field goals (46 percent), 23-of-79 (3 pt.) field goals (29 percent), 66-of-93 free throws, 36 offensive rebounds, 76 defensive rebounds, 26 assists, 39 steals and 54 blocked shots.

“She is one of the top girls basketball players in the area,” Union County coach Scott Gray said. “And what makes it more out-standing is that she is usually double and triple-teamed and still scores.”

As of Monday, Jan. 6, Gray’s career totals at the end of 3-1/2 seasons include...63 games played, 1,028 points on 385-of-824 field goals (47 percent), 43-of-174  3-pt. field goals (69 percent), 139 offensive rebounds, 271 defensive rebounds, 81 assists, 112 steals, 62 blocked shots.
