Union County’s boys soccer team posted its first win of the season last week with a 4-2 win over visiting Franklin County.

The Patriots trailed 2-0 in the first half, but came back strong with headsup footwork from Dylan Persinger, Braydon Reiboldt and Caden Coffman.
Persinger put the ball in the net with 23:50 remaining until halftime. Then, less than two minutes later, Reiboldt tied the score at 2-2.

Another two minutes passed before Coffman punched the go-ahead goal in for a 3-2 halftime lead.

The Patriots scored again in the second half and continued to keep the Wildcats scoreless in the final 40 minutes.

The Patriots added an insurance goal in the second half to post a 4-2 win over the Wildcats.

The Patriot girls lost to the Lady Wildcats, 4-0.

“The girls played well - they are just young,” coach Brad Abbott said. “We only have three subs, so it’s a challenge.”
