Daniel Jones

December 12, 2023 at 2:55 p.m.

Daniel Jones, 85, went home to be with the Lord on December 8, 2023 surrounded by his loving family at his home in Brookville.

One of three sons of Elcer and Eddie Margret Fox Jones, Daniel was born on February 25, 1938 in Metamora. He spent his school years between Peppertown and Buena Vista but never finished as did so many of that era.

On October 31, 1959 Daniel married the former Minnie Roberts. They started their life together in Laurel, but lived many places from Arizona to Tennessee and back to Brookville; they went on to have six children.

Daniel was employed at Philco Ford in the 1970s and then got his calling to follow the Lord. He devoted his life to God and ministered several churches around Tellico Plains, Tennessee. He was a carpenter, electrician, plumber, mechanic, and all-around jack of all trades. In his leisure time, Daniel loved to garden, can, cook, and could make the most delicious rhubarb pie. He loved to play jokes and tell stories always ending in “Did you like that one?”

Survivors include five children, Marcella (Jerry) Roberts of Carmel, Dexter (Becky) Jones of Laurel, Steve (Jeanie) Jones of Connersville, Todd (Kristy) Jones of Vonore, Tennessee, and Amber (Bobby) Grizzell of Laurel; 10 grandchildren, Maranda Zimmerman, Amanda Bogue, Brandon Roberts, Lauren Blessing, Derrek Jones, Daniel Jones, Shelby Jones, Jarrod Jones, Timmothy Jones, and Harper Grizzell; 10 great-grandchildren, Rade, Robin, Adrian, Ross, Elliot, Everly, Chloe, Olivia, Lincoln, and Josephine; a sister Rosie Banks of Laurel; many nieces and nephews.

Besides his wife of 53 years, Minnie Jones, Daniel is preceded in death and welcomed into Heaven by a son, Danny Ray; a sister, Fannie Dunn; and two brothers, William and David Jones.

Friends and family may visit from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, December 15, 2023 at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home. Pastor Brandon Bogue will officiate. Burial will follow in Laurel North Cemetery.
