Allen “Ace” McCool

Allen “Ace” McCool was born on September 26, 1946, in Batesville, a son to Estal and Mildred McCool. He proudly served his country in the US Army. Allen was a member of the Sunman American Legion Post 337 for over 50 years. He married Donna Richter Dudley in 1981, having just recently celebrated their 43rd anniversary. Allen worked for McCool Construction and later retired from the Cincinnati Laborers Union. In addition to construction, Allen also did refrigeration work on the side. In his free time, Allen, AKA “Tiger,” could be found frying chicken for multiple churches, attending ball games of his grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, as well as getting his exercise in at the YMCA. On Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at the age of 78, Allen passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Those surviving who will cherish Allen’s memory include his wife, Donna; two stepsons, Michael (Cynthia) Dudley and Rick Dudley; one sister, Deborah (Paul) Hornberger; two grandchildren, Michelle and Joshua Dudley; and two great-grandchildren, Ryleigh and Cali Dudley; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Allen was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronald and Larry McCool; and one sister, Janet Vonderheide.
Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, October 31 from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at Cook Rosenberger Funeral Home 107 Vine Street, Sunman. Following visitation Father Vincent Lampert will conduct a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 noon at St. Peters Catholic Church, 1207 East Road, Brookville, IN 47012. Burial to follow in the church cemetery immediately after.
