Linda K. Fisher

Linda Kay Fisher died on October 14, 2024 at Hospice House of Davidson County, Lexington, North Carolina. Mrs. Fisher was born to Lois I. (Netzley) and Ernest M. Shull on December 19, 1941 in Chicago where her parents were training to be missionaries. Growing up in India, she attended an international boarding school called Woodstock. She returned to the states in 1960 to attend Manchester College, North Manchester, Ind., receiving her B.S. Degree in Biology, Physical Education, and Health. She obtained her M.A. Degree in Education at Ball State University, Muncie. It was at Manchester College where she met and married her husband of 60 years, Michael E. Fisher. Together they raised three children, Debbie L. Davis of Lexington, NC, David N. Fisher of Oviedo, Fla., and Douglas E. Fisher of Land ‘O Lakes, FL. Mrs. Fisher taught physical education and health at Hamilton, North Miami Consolidation, and Manchester College; taught biology at Richmond High School; and physical education at Liberty Elementary. She then worked at the Union County Family and Children, retiring there after 22 years. Linda’s creative side allowed her to choreograph local school musicals and write lyrics for several of her husband’s compositions.
After her husband’s full retirement, they moved to Lexington, North Carolina to be closer to their daughter, Debbie Davis, and her family. The couple spent winter months at their home in an adult community called “The Forest,” in Lake Mary, Fla., close to their two boys, David Fisher and Doug Fisher.
They were members of Lexington First United Methodist Church. Surviving are her husband, Michael E. Fisher; daughter, Debbie L. Davis (Derek); two sons, David N. Fisher (Holly) and Douglas E. Fisher (Rachel), nine grandchildren; eight greatgrandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
An informal service will be held for family and friends at First United Methodist Church of Lexington, North Carolina at 6:00 pm on Sunday, November 3, 2024.
