Marilyn L. Harrison-Karas, 92 of Richmond passed away on Friday, March 7, 2025. She was born on May 13, 1932 and was the daughter of Lacy and Edna Harrison of Liberty.

On March 31, 1987 she married Joseph C. Karas and they enjoyed 33 years together until Joe passed away in 2020.

Marilyn retired from the United States Forestry Service where she played a role in the creation of Smokey the Bear. She enjoyed listening to country music and traveling to attend shows in Dollywood and Branson, Missouri. She and Joe also enjoyed traveling to visit children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews around the United States.

Marilyn is survived by her brother, James (Robyn) Harrison, of New Paris, Ohio; step daughter, Susan (David) Peterson and step-son, Joseph (Rose) Karas.

A graveside service for Marilyn will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at 11:00 am at College Corner Cemetery in  College Corner, Ohio.

Urban Winkler Liberty Funeral Home is honored to be assisting the Harrison Family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, those may be sent to P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741 in honor of Marilyn Harrison.
