Deama “Kay” Maupin, 73 of Rushville, passed away on March 14, 2025 at Morristown Manor. She was born on June 11, 1951 in Rushville to the late Robert E. and Martha May (Thompson) Berry. Deama was a graduate of Rushville High School. She worked at Rushville Kroger for over 20 years in every area of the store. Deama enjoyed crafts, going to Friendship, watching sci-fi movies and adored her fur baby, Dante. 

Deama is survived by her daughters, Gina (Gerald) Roehling of Indianapolis, Sandra (Chris) Owens of Madison and Amy (Larry) Newbold of Madisonville, Tenn.; siblings, Vicky Kidd of Rushville, Danny J. (Shelia) Berry of Rushville, Tracie (Bill) Hankins of Indianapolis, and Mark A. (Jackie) Berry of Connersville. She will also be missed by her grandchildren, Kerry Owens, Valerie (fiancé, Mike) Owens, Ryan (Harlie) O’Dell, Eric O’Dell, Jacob Newbold, Justin Newbold, Quenton (fiancée, Kamryn Dicks) Owens, Thurston (Shyla) Owens, Nikki Robinson, Lauren Roehling and Jenna (Quintin) Norman; great-grandchildren, Luca Owens, Carson Laird, Kaison Owens, Ava Owens, Axel O’Dell, Ava O’Dell, Journey Norman, Haevyn Norman, Quinley Norman, Finley Owens, Landon Robinson, Trevor Robinson, Katyann Robinson and Brody Robinson. 

Deama is preceded in death by her parents. 

Services will be held on Friday, March 21, 2025 at 1 p.m. at Moster Mortuary, with Pastor Jeff Edwards presiding. Friends are welcome to visit the family from 11 a.m. until the time of service in the mortuary. Burial will be held in East Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Rushville’s Animal Shelter.
