Elton M. Kennel Jr., of Brookville, was born on January 18, 1934, in Middletown, Ohio, a son to Elton Sr. and Virginia Carbery Kennel. He married Helen Halcomb on February 18, 1952, in Brookville, and together they shared over 60 years of marriage. Elton proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He was employed by Ford Motor Company for over 20 years as a machinist in Indianapolis. In his spare time, Elton enjoyed traveling, especially in his motor home. He really enjoyed looking for a new motor home to buy for his next traveling adventure. Elton spent plenty of time flipping through the pages of the most recent Auto & RV Trader. In addition to traveling, he loved spending time with his friends and family. On Friday, March 14, 2025, at the age of 91, Elton passed away peacefully with loved ones by his side at Envive Healthcare of Brookville.
Those surviving who will cherish Elton’s memory include his brother, George (Ruth) Kennel; two sisters, Jean (Leo) Kruthaupt and Rosemary (Lloyd) Ball; as well as several nieces, nephews, family members, and friends. In addition to his parents, Elton was preceded in death by his loving wife, Helen; one son, Gary; four brothers, Charles, Loren, John, and Ival; and two sisters, Lillian Kennel and Marianne Scheper.
Friends gathered and remembered Elton on Tuesday, March 18 until the time of service at 1 p.m. at Cook Rosenberger Funeral Home, 929 Main Street, Brookville. Burial with military honors followed immediately after in Maple Grove Cemetery.
