Robert E. “Bob” Hofer, age 86 of Brookville, died Sunday, January 8, 2017 at the Brookville Healthcare Center in Brookville.
Born January 10, 1930 in Brookville, he was the son of the late Earl and Kathryn (Reidenbach) Hofer. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict.
On June 6, 1953, he and the former Betty Faye Calihan were united in marriage, and she survives.
Bob served as Sexton of Maple Grove Cemetery in Brookville for more than 55 years before his retirement. He was a member of the Bernard Hurst Post #77 of the American Legion, the Fraternal Order of Eagles #1129 of Brookville and had been a former member of the Brookville Volunteer Fire Department for many years.
Besides Betty, his wife of more than 63 years, survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Rhonda Hofer and Robin and Penny Hofer, all of Brook-ville; six grandsons; and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Jennifer Hofer; as well as a brother, Alfred “Bud” Hofer.
Family and friends may visit from 9 to 11 a.m., today, Wednesday, January 11 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. Burial with full military graveside honors by the Bernard Hurst Post #77 of the American Legion will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Brook-ville.
