Raymond Pelfrey, age 79 of Brookville, died Sunday, January 1, 2017 at Margaret Mary Hospital in Batesville.
He was born to the late Kie and Nell (Lockard) Pelfrey on November 26, 1937 in Breathitt, Ky.
He was a veteran of the United States Marines and served in the Korean Conflict. After his honorable discharge, he worked in the transportation industry as a truck driver all of his career. After retirement he drove locally for Franklin County Public Transportation. Raymond was a member of the local Bernard Hurst Post 77 of the American Legion and was an avid watcher of the FOX News Network in his leisure time. On December 16, 1972, he was joined in marriage to Sharon Griebe.
He leaves his wife of 44 years, as well as six children, sons, Jimmy Pelfrey of Oxford, Ohio, Greg (Stephanie) Pelfrey of Cassville, Mo., Duane (Pam) Pelfrey of Ohio and Travis Pelfrey of Sullivan; daughter, Jessica (Joseph) Salas of Lewisville, Texas; step-daughter, Missi (Monte) McCoy of Brookville; brother, Ronnie Pelfrey of Hamilton, Ohio; 19 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, JoAnn Tincher and Joyce Neeley and great-grandson, Bryce Pelfrey.
In keeping with Raymond's wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and a memorial service will follow at a later date.
