Comments (0)
Franklin County girls soccer team enjoyed its 4-1 victory over New Castle last season so much, the Lady Wildcats decided to do it all over again.
On Tuesday, August 27, the Wildcats defeated the Lady Trojans by an identical 4-1 score on the FCHS pitch.
Senior Kloe Bolos, sophomore Jordan Nichols, freshman Brylee Pace and senior Adrienne Bundy each had goals in the victory.
FC got off to a quick start, scoring three goals in the first half.
Those having assists in the match were: junior Zoey Gruber, senior Jaime Stortz, junior Laura Edwards and sophomore Jessica Parker.
Senior goalkeeper Karlie Hahn added another dozen saves to her remarkable early season total.
However, the story of the night was the Wildcat community came together to honor and celebrate the life of Joe Gruber.
He was killed in a vehicular accident which occurred on Saturday, August 10, on Indiana 46 in Dearborn County.
Skyline Chili hosted the concession stand at the pitch with the money raised through the concession sales that evening, Skyline Cheese Coney Night, going to the Gruber family.
FC was off until the Wildcats played host to Union County on Tuesday, September 3.
Results were unavailable at press time Tuesday afternoon.
