On Feb. 21 at approximately 10:45 p.m. the Union County Sheriff's Office, Liberty Police Department, Indiana State Police, West College Corner Fire Department, and Spirit EMS responded to an address in West College Corner, Indiana for a report of an explosion.   

Upon arrival, the first responders found a 17-year-old female with severe burns on the majority of her body.  The female was transported to Reid Hospital and was flown by helicopter to Indianapolis.  

The father also suffered severe burns to both hands and arms while trying to save his daughter.  The father was also transported to Reid Hospital.   First responders learned that there was a controlled fire and the fire was starting to go out when the juvenile went to dump gasoline on the fire.  An explosion then ensued, and the gas can combusted.

The status of both patients is unknown at this time.
