Fairfield Causeway Road officially reopened on Monday, December 2.

The $2 million rehabilitation project began earlier this year on May 2. The project included waterline maintenance, roadway resurfacing and bridge painting.
The closure of the bridge had an impact on both vehicular and boat traffic. There were a few delays during the stint of construction including a nest of swallows who decided to set up camp under the bridge.

The bridge was originally scheduled to be open at the end of October; however, the Indiana Department of Transportation announced earlier this year it would be pushed back to December 1.
