In mid-October, the ghosts and the spooks take over the small historic village of Metamora. Metamora's annual Haunted Village will return this weekend, Oct. 16-17, and continue the next two weekends, on Oct. 23-24 and on Oct. 30-31.

The tours begin at 7:30 p.m. and welcome thrill-seekers until 10 p.m. Board the hayride and purchase wristbands at the tent on Columbia Street. Then proceed into town, where a guided walking tour will take place back through the haunted streets of Metamora.

Admission is $5 per person, and although the tour is not extremely scary, quite a bit of walking is involved, which may be an issue for younger children. In addition, some Metamora shops and restaurants will open special hours for the haunting event.
