This morning, March 4, parents and guardians received an email from Franklin County Middle School principal Chris Bundy about a possible safety concern.

The email stated, “School administrators were notified of a possible safety concern at the middle school this morning. As a precaution, steps were taken to increase the safety presence at the school. The matter has been resolved.”

Franklin County Community School Corporation superintendent Tammy Chavis later provided the following statement: “The safety and security of the students and staff will always be a priority in the Franklin County Community School Corporation. Franklin County Middle School received information this morning that a student made a threat on social media to harm another student. School administrators, along with the School Resource Officers, investigated the threat and it was resolved without further incident.”
