The PreservINg Main Street Pilot Program will be administered by Main Street Brookville, Inc. The game changer for this program is no matching funds are required from the property owner.

The focus of the grant is to visually transform the historic downtown core district. PreservINg Main Street is a pilot program through the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs. OCRA is partnering with Indiana Landmarks and Indiana Humanities. Originally only one Indiana community would be the Pilot Community. However, OCRA received such an overwhelming response, two communities were awarded the Pilot Community designation. Brookville and Kendallville have the privilege of being the first.

Eligible Properties for this Pilot Program:

· Commercial properties only
· Located in Brookville's Historic Downtown District on Main Street between Third Street and Eighth Street
· Rated as Outstanding, Notable, or Contributing Historic Properties by Indiana Landmarks

Façade Grant:
· Does not require matching funds from the property owner
· Is a voluntary program through an application process
· Is for exterior work only (windows, roofing, outside doors, and exterior material (brick, stone, wood, etc.)

What the Façade Grant is NOT for:
· Not for residential properties
· Not for interior work, HVAC systems, solar systems, etc.
· Not for properties with government offices as renter or in property owned by governmental entity

A letter with more details will be sent to the commercial property owners on Main Street between Third Street and Eighth Street before the end of September.
