The Franklin County High School Athletic Department would like to honor the seniors who are missing their spring season.

The spring of 2020 was set up to be a banner year on the track, fields, courses and courts, according to AD Denny Dorrel.

“Even though the seniors did not get to participate this spring, their commitment and sacrifice to Franklin County Athletics is greatly appreciated,” he remarked.

The next two athletes represent the baseball and girls tennis teams, respectively.

Winning conference.

What are you going to miss the most from your season being canceled?

Competing against all the teams in our conference and being with the team.

Is there anyone you want to thank?

All my coaches and family.

A message from FCHS Baseball Coach Derek Stang: “Jacob transformed from being a quiet and unassuming player to a player who was respected and took charge of the team. The work he put in in the offseason to become the player that he became is an example for younger players to look up to.”

What other clubs/sports/activities do you participate in at FCHS?

Student Council, Spanish Club, National Honor Society, Future Business Leaders of America, Bleacher Bums, MCATZ, Youthquake, Boys Tennis Manager, Fellowship of Christian Athletes

What are your plans after high school?

After high school, I will be attending Xavier University and double-majoring in marketing and entrepreneurship. I also plan on playing club tennis at Xavier.

What is your favorite moment from your sport?

Throughout my tennis career, there have been so many great moments. My favorite moment on the court was probably when I received All-Conference MVP and when we won conference as a team as well. My favorite memories off the court were tennis sleepovers and coffee dates almost every weekend.

What are you going to miss the most from your season being canceled?

I will most miss the team aspect of tennis this year. I have never experienced a team closer than our tennis team. From sleepovers almost every weekend since freshman year to random ice cream dates after practice to annoying our coaches with our obnoxious singing on the bus, I can truly say that my attachment to this team is something I will never get back.

Is there anyone you want to thank?

I would like to thank both my parents and my coaches for always supporting me in my tennis career as well as life in general. Coach Siebert and Coach John Ingermann have impacted me in the best ways and taught me about what it means to be a great tennis player. Franklin County is extremely blessed to have such great tennis coaches and such a great tennis program. I look forward to seeing what the future has in store for next year's tennis team.

A message from FCHS Tennis Coach Jeff Siebert: "Unquestionably the most dedicated female tennis player to play at FCHS. While playing number one singles for four years, she completed an undefeated regular season her sophomore year. Her career record in varsity action stands at 57-13, placing her among the best to play at FCHS.”
