FCHS announces Ms. Michelle South as FCHS principal

Franklin County Community School Corporation is proud to welcome Ms. Michelle South as the new principal at Franklin County High School! Ms. South is currently an At-Risk Interventionist and Special Education Instructional Specialist. She is a former school principal, assistant principal and teacher with high expectations among all stakeholders to best serve the needs of needs of all students.
Michelle currently resides in Louisiana but states “Indiana is home.”She comes from a family of educators. Her sister works for Brownsburg Schools in Indianapolis and her mother is a former 4th grade elementary teacher at Blue River Valley Elementary School in Mt. Summit.
Ms. South received her Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education from West Liberty State University in West Virginia and her Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
Currently, Michelle is a Special Education Instructional Specialist and At-Risk Interventionist for St. Mary Parish School Board in Centerville, Louisiana. In this role, Michelle does Trust Based Relationship Intervention and Crisis Prevention Intervention training for the district office, teachers, and staff members. She is also the coordinator of many district programs including Positive Behavior Intervention Programs, Safe Schools Program, Character Counts Program, and Crisis Response Protocol.
Prior to her current position, Ms. South was the Principal at Morgan City Junior High School in Louisiana. While principal, she gained experience working with school resource officers, preparing school budgets, and state testing. Michelle also served as the assistant principal for two years where she organized school functions (Veterans Day, Talent Show, Christmas Assembly, Graduation, etc.), scheduled the NWEA MAP assessment, facilitated social emotional learning and enforced school discipline policies.
