Bulldog boys tennis faced another Bulldog foe, Centerville, on Aug. 26 with CHS winning 4-1.


#1 Singles Sam Johnson was the lone point, winning in 3 sets, 6-1, 4-6, 6-2. #2 Singles Caleb Mohr lost 3-6, 6-4, 2-6; #3 Singles Lincoln Garrett lost 3-6, 4-6; #1 Doubles Landon Oldham & Jevan Smith lost 3-6, 6-4, 2-6; #2 Doubles Wes Peters & Owen Westerfeld lost 0-6, 2-6.

At Greensburg two days later it was the Pirates winning by the same score. Likewise, Johnson had the only W (6-0, 6-3). Garrett (2 singles), Smith (#3), Oldham/Mohr (1 doubles) and Peters/Westerfeld (#2) were taken down in straight sets.

The Dogs rallied to knock off East Central the next day (3-2). All points came at singles. Johnson won 6-0, 6-1 while Mohr claimed a 6-4, 7-6 (7-3) victory. Garrett breezed 6-1, 6-1. Oldham and Peters won 6-4, 6-3 at top doubles while Will Moore and Westerfeld were 6-3, 6-3 winners.

BHS blanked Lawrenceburg Aug. 31, 5-0. LHS only won four games total, three at #2 singles and another at #3 singles.

Sept. 2 was a 4-1 loss to New Castle as Johnson again prevented the shutout by winning 6-3, 6-0. Mohr, Garrett, Oldham/Peters and Smith/Westerfeld fell in straight sets.

The Dogs blanked EIAC foe Franklin County last Tuesday, 5-0. Smith/Westerfeld earned a 6-0, 6-0 shutout while Oldham/Peters won 6-3, 6-1. Johnson (6-0, 6-1), Mohr (6-1, 6-1) and Garrett (6-1, 6-1) were victors in straight sets.

The Columbus North Invitational was Saturday. BHS fell 5-0 to the host school and 3-2 to the Providence Pioneers. CN won all five matches in straight sets while Johnson (6-0, 6-4) and Mohr (6-2, 6-2) secured points for BHS in the second bout.

The Dogs (4-9) took on Rushville Tuesday.
