RICHMOND - The Rushville Lady Lions’ golf team kicked off the season on Monday with the annual season-opening Richmond Invitational at Richmond Elks Country Club.

On a hot and sticky day, the Lady Lions turned in a team score of 427 which put them in 7th place of the nine teams competing. Batesville, behind top-three finishes by Addyson Weiler and Ava South, captured the trophy.

The Lady Lions were led by senior Emma Tressler who fired a 95. She was backed up by Megan Alexander who shot 101. Freshman Ella Tressler turned in a good performance in her high school varsity debut with a 107. Also, Heaven Denney shot a new personal record of 124 for 18 holes.

The Lady Lions were back out on the links on Tuesday as they headed to Liberty Country Club for the Lady Patriots’ annual Union County Invitational. Monday the girls head to Greenfield-Central to face the Lady Cougars along with Triton Central’s Lady Tigers.

Rushville’s athletic director Melissa Winkler wishes to remind everyone that the Lady Lions will hold “home” practices and meets this season at Connersville’s Arbor Crossing Golf Club.
