Geraldine “Geri” Campbell, 91, of Connersville, passed away on November 16, 2024 at Arbor Trace Assisted Living in Richmond.

Born on December 31, 1932, in Brookville, Geri was the second of four children born to Gaynelle Rudical and Julius E. Tulley.  She graduated from Short High School in Liberty, in 1950 and went on to earn her Registered Nurse (R.N.) degree from St. Vincent School of Nursing in 1953. Later, in the 1980s, she pursued further education at Indiana University East.

On April 3, 1970, she married Robert F. Campbell, and together they shared many years of love and companionship.

Geri had a long and distinguished nursing career, working for 40 years at Fayette Memorial Hospital in Connersville, where she served in Medical-Surgical, Ambulatory Care, and Home Health. She retired in 2001 but continued her service as a volunteer for the hospital for another 10 years.

Before her marriage, Geri’s nursing career took her across the country, including roles at Monterey Community Hospital in Monterey Calif., and at St. Agnes Medical Center in Fresno, where she played an instrumental role in establishing the first Intensive Care Unit in 1959. She also worked at the University of California in San Francisco and at Reid Memorial Hospital in Richmond.

Geri will be remembered for her sense of humor, her love for her family and her endless generosity.  She was active in many local organizations, including the former R.N. Club, the local AARP Chapter, Eta Pi Kappa Sorority, the Red Hat Society, and the Senior Center. She was a passionate gardener and enjoyed reading, playing bingo and writing limericks—one of which was published.

In addition to her husband, Robert, Geri is survived by her daughters, Jennifer Schoon Hermann (Jim) and Jo Ann Greene; four stepchildren, Bob J. Campbell (Pam), Karen Day (Tim), Robin Campbell (Debbie), and Brett Campbell (Lisa); her sister, Judy Lange of Eldorado Hills, California; several nieces and nephews; and 48 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters-Joy Wall and Patty Terry, son-in-law Bob Greene, and her grandson, Kyle Minton.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2024 from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. at Miller Moster Robbins Funeral Home. Pastor Tim Billups will officiate.

Memorial contributions may be made to Reid Health Foundation or the Fayette Senior Citizens Center. Online condolences may be made anytime at millermosterrobbins.com.
