The annual Chicken Fest & Fry Off provides a day of fun for the whole family

The annual Main Street Brookville Chicken Festival & Fry Off will be on Saturday, Sept. 14. at the courthouse lawn in Brookville from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. With delicious fried chicken, exciting competitions, live music, and activities for the whole family, this year’s festival promises to be an unforgettable experience.

The fry-off competition kicks off at 12 p.m. to determine the best chicken fryers in southeastern Indiana. The teams will be judged at 2 p.m. by a panel of food critics and local celebrities. Home fryer teams can sign up right up until the day of the event. The winning team will receive a $1,000 cash prize donated by Kopp’s Turkey Farm. There will also be a separate fry-off category for restaurants. An interesting and appropriate addition to the festival will be the only officially licensed YUM brand, Colonel Sanders, who will engage with attendees and bring KFC memorabilia for viewing.

Although fried chicken is the event’s theme, there’s so much more in store. Vendors will be set up on the courthouse lawn. Chicken lunches, dinners, and a beer garden will be available all day. Children will have plenty of things to keep them entertained, including games, a bouncy house, face painting, and more. For car enthusiasts, a cruise-in will be held on Court Street. behind the courthouse lawn. As for the music lineup, Blake Smith, Alex & Noah, and Tumbling Dice, a Rolling Stones tribute band, will keep the crowd entertained. Additionally, Tumbling Dice will have an “after party” performing at Hilltop Restaurant, located right down the street from the courthouse.
