Darrell Smith, 30, of Liberty, was in a severe motorcycle accident on Bunker Hill in Connersville on July 14. As a result of the accident, Smith suffered life-threatening injuries, including a fractured skull, traumatic brain injury, blunt force injuries to the neck and spine, diffused axonal brain injury, severe compound fracture and displacement of his ulna, collapsed lung, and crushed bones in his nasal and orbital areas. Smith is defying all expectations and making an incredible recovery, surpassing all hopes and expectations.

Now, the Liberty and Connersville community is rallying around Smith and his family with a benefit concert at Robinson’s Whitewater River Campground, 1614 St. Rd. 121, Connersville, on Saturday, Sept. 21. The day will be full of food, games, live music, and family fun. There will be a cornhole tournament, split-the-pot raffle, and gift basket raffles.

“If you’re coming from out of town, check out their (Robinson’s Campground) cozy cabin rentals or campsites,” Smith’s wife said. “We’re thrilled to support this campground, a beloved part of our family’s summer traditions. Let’s come together to celebrate Darrell’s resilience and raise vital funds for our family.”
