National Hispanic Heritage Month is observed from Sept.15 to Oct. 15. It’s an annual celebration in the United States that provides an opportunity to recognize and honor the contributions, culture, and history of Hispanic and Latino Americans. The month-long observance is a time to celebrate the rich heritage and diverse backgrounds of Hispanic and Latino communities, as well as their significant impact on the nation.

The Hispanic Community Advisory Committee (HCAC) is hosting an event, Fiesta Hispana, celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month at Liberty Park, 716 S. Park Avenue in Batesville from 2 to 7 p.m. There will be authentic food cooked on-site, dancing, and children’s activities while raising money for the HCAC Scholarship Fund. Tacos, tamales, carnitas and more will be available for purchase. Cash or card will be accepted.

There will be live music from 3-6 p.m. with Artes Latinas Touring Ensembles Trio de Colores and Tropicante performing. Miss Lizzy’s Dance will also put on a performance at 2:30 p.m.

The Hispanic Community Advisory Committee (HCAC) works with the Hispanic community in Southeastern Indiana to provide services related to health, family, education, and community integration. All proceeds from the event will benefit the HCAC Scholarship fund.
