Paddock sweeps Pat, Rebel invites

Sophomore Tanner Paddock won his hometown cross country invitational Tuesday, a few days after winning at Randolph Southern.

UC’s No. 1 opened some distance between himself and runner-up Caleb Aber of Wapahani Saturday in Lynn, finishing 16:51 to 17:08. There was a big Patriot drop-off to 36th where Griffin Overholt ran 19:49. Wyatt Pearson was 60th (21:29), Easton Baumbauer 65th (21:35), Christian Franklin 71st (22:15), Jared Grissom 76th (22:42) and Landon Klingman 85th (23:44). UC was 9th as a team. Lillian Goecke represented the Lady Pats, racing to 32nd (24:44).

At the Pats’ invite, Paddock won by over a minute versus Winchester’s Hunter Patterson (17:11-18:19). Overholt (5th; 19:59) and Baumbauer (10th; 21:38) were top-10 placers. Pearson was 14th (22:15), Franklin 16th (22:52), Grissom 17th (23:02) and Klingman 19th (23:55). UC also won in team results, 34-39 over the Golden Falcons. Goecke slipped into the top 10 at 9th (25:20).

Centerville’s invite is Saturday.
