Julia E. Frey

Julia E. Frey (nee Landwehr), age 81, of Cedar Grove passed away on March 5, 2025, in Greensburg following a lengthy illness.
Julia was born on September 21, 1943, with her twin sister Judith and was one of eight children born to the late Edward and Rose Claire (Egan) Landwehr.
Julia spent her early years working at her dad’s hardware store in Covington, Kentucky with her siblings. After a few years post graduating from Villa Madonna, Julia met Donald Frey and decided that green acres was the place she loved and was loved. Julia married Donald on May 30, 1966, and moved to a farm in Cedar Grove where she resided for the rest of her life.
Julia, when not being a mother, devoted her time to the Holy Guardian Angels church in Cedar Grove by first teaching Catholic Catechism and then later by being the parish secretary. Julia was also the parish secretary at St. Teresa in Dearborn County. After retiring, she traveled to Germany, Ireland, Israel, and Italy to visit holy sites and to see where her German and Irish ancestors lived.
Survivors include Donald, her loving husband of 58 years, three children, Donald (Debbie Fox) Frey, Anthony Frey, and Jason Frey; five grandchildren, Alexander Frey, Sienna Frey, Madelynn Frey, Lillian Frey-Burkart, and Isabelle Frey; one great-grandchild; three sisters, Judith (John) Eilers, Susan (Richard) Bailey, Patricia Landwehr; one brother Paul (Carolyn) Landwehr.
In addition to Julia’s parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Rose Ann Hauck; and two brothers Edward Landwehr and Thomas Landwehr.
On Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at Holy Guardian Angel Oratory, 405 U.S. Highway 52, Cedar Grove, Indiana, a rosary was prayed at 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Afterward, family and friends visited until 10:45 a.m. at Holy Guardian Angels.
Rev. Vincent Lampert officiated the Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, 11:00 a.m. at Holy Guardian Angel Oratory, 405 U.S. Highway 52, Cedar Grove, Indiana. Burial followed in Holy Guardian Angels Cemetery in Cedar Grove.
