Recently, the Franklin County Chamber hosted a celebration for Dave Cook, who moved here in 1965 and was not only a co-owner of Cook's Funeral Home but was the funeral director until 2019. There are a lot of ways to describe Dave and everything he has done for our town, but the best is that this man "never said no."

Dave was part of the Brookville Jaycees, and it was incredible to learn that he used to transport patients in a hearse as there was no other transportation available! It's because of this that Dave started a fundraiser and created the very first EMS service and served as a board member for 25 years.

Several organizations Dave worked with over the years were 4-H Fair, Youth Development, Metamora Arts, Canoefest, the Chamber, the Foundation, United Way, sporting events, and Little League!

It’s clear Dave Cook has accomplished so much and has made a deep impact on his fellow residents. That is why he was awarded with a certificate and a star, due to his lifetime work and efforts to help Franklin County be a wonderful place.

In addition to his certificate and star, a letter was read to him from his son Adam, who had been unable to attend that evening. His words were heartfelt and loving as he tells his father of how inspiring and incredible he has been as a father and pillar citizen.

"You have been 4-H president 43 of the 47 years I have been alive. You were someone I always looked up to and wanted to be. You have spent your life making Brookville great, and I am the man and father I am today because of you," Adam writes.

Truly sweet to hear and there wasn't a dry eye in the house. Dave Cook is greatly thanked for his years of service to our town.

His middle name isn't Hercules, but it may as well be.

Thank you Dave Cook!
