Genee Gilmore Hesse of Morning Sun, Ohio passed away on April 20, 2024 at Woodland Country Manor.  She was born in Hamilton, Ohio on May 14, 1938 to Faye W. and Genevieve Pinkerton Gilmore and grew up on a farm south of Cottage Grove, Union County.  Genee was involved in 4H and Rural Youth.  She attended the College Corner United Presbyterian Church and was in the choir and youth group. 

A 1956 graduate of College Corner Union School, Genee was Senior Class Secretary, a 4 year member of both the band and chorus, a member of National Honor Society and editor of the 1956 OHIANIAN. Following graduation, she was employed as a teller at the Oxford First National Bank for 20 years.  On July 24, 1965 she married Leroy Hesse and moved to their farm south of Morning Sun and remained there until July of 2015, when health issues caused her to become a resident of Woodland Country Manor on Somerville Road.  She enjoyed being a member of the Oxford Presbyterian Church since 2009.  

Genee was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Hesse, in 2012, her parents, an infant brother, and seven first cousins.  Surviving Genee are her brother, Harold Gilmore, three nieces, two nephews, and first cousins - Dianne Gilmore Young, Tom Pinkerton, Tonya Paddock, Ted Pinkerton, and Treva Reiboldt.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Oxford Presbyterian Church, 101 N. Main Street, Oxford, Ohio 45056, or the Union County Foundation, 404 Eaton Street, Liberty, Indiana 47353 for the Genee Gilmore Hesse Music Fund which benefits Union County High School band and chorus students.

A visitation will be held at Paul R. Young Funeral Home, Oxford, Ohio, on Friday, April 26, 2024 from 11:00 am until the time of service at 1:00 pm. Interment to follow at College Corner Cemetery.
