Gary Lee Hofmann, age 69, died at his Lithonia, Georgia home on June 22, 2020. Mr. Hofmann was the elder son of long time Liberty, residents, Jack D., and Betty Jo Hofmann. Growing up in Liberty, he was a 1969 graduate of Short High School. He attended Purdue University. He lived most of his adult years in Oxford, Ohio and Fort Mitchell, Kentucky. In 2013, he relocated to the Atlanta, Georgia area. For 25 years, he enjoyed a loving relationship with his former life partner, Carol Sharp of Fort Mitchell, Kentucky.
Throughout his career, Mr. Hofmann was employed in the automotive industry. He served as the Parts Manager for General Motors, Kia, and Hyundai dealerships in Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky and the Atlanta, Georgia region. As a result of his many years of experience and expertise in his field, he was sent to numerous locations around the world.
Gary was loved by his family and will be dearly missed. He is predeceased by his parents, Jack D., and Betty Hofmann. He is survived by his brother David Hofmann [Lynn] of Liberty, Indiana; his sister Jennifer Thompson [Rick Bawcum] of Alexandria, Virginia; his niece Kristin McDade of Cave Creek, Arizona; nephews Joel Hofmann of Richmond; Brad Hofmann of Houston, Texas; and Benjamin Thompson of Orlando, Florida. He is also survived by nine great-nieces and great-nephews.
Family members request prayers for their beloved brother and uncle. Gifts can be made to the American Heart Association. Due to the limitations and restrictions presented by the pandemic, a memorial service will be held at a later date.
