July 29, 2020 at 8:10 p.m.

Union County football coach Joel Hofmann is working with approximately 35 players during this reopening period for the coming 2020 football season.
“We are working on a lot of technique and very little, if any, contact,” Hofmann said. “Essentially getting them moving and used to the movements needed to be successful.”
Beginning the week of Aug. 3, practices will move to five-days-a-week during the evening hours.
“We just hope we get to play games,” Hofmann said. “At this point we are trying our best to be great at social distancing and complying with mask orders to keep ourselves healthy and ready to play.”
The season opens with an 11 a.m. scrimmage at South Decatur on Saturday, Aug. 15.
The first game of the season is Friday, Aug. 21 at Northeastern.
UC’s first home game is Friday, Aug. 28, with Lincoln.
