Union County 4-H Fair Queen crowned

Pentecost was selected the 2021 Miss Personality and Union County 4-H Fair Queen at last Saturday’s Union County 4-H Fair Queen Pageant at Union County High School.
“At first I didn’t really want to do this,” Lyllian began. “But I was talked into it and now I’m glad I did it. It was so much fun.”
Lyllian will be a junior at Union County High School this fall, where she is a varsity cheerleader, member of the Patriot Singers Choir and the musical program.
She is an eight-year member of the Hopeful Homemakers 4-H Club and the 4-H Junior Leaders. She is enrolled in the sheep project and enjoys showing sheep in Union County, the Indiana State Fair and Indiana open shows. She is a Liberty FFA member and will serve as the 2021-22 Chapter Reporter.
She attends the Brookville Oak Forest Church of Christ and has enjoyed 15 years of dancing at Rita’s Dixon Dance Studio.
Her future plans include attending Purdue University majoring in animal science and a minor in veterinary medicine. She will continue attending veterinary school to earn a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree and become a veterinarian.
Lyllian is the daughter of Josh and Rebecca Pentecost. She was sponsored by Frame Clinic of Chiropractic.
Another 16-year-old named Lillian (but spelled differently) was selected First Runner-up.
Lillian Fields is the daughter of Randy and Sandy Fields. She will be a junior at Union County High School where she is involved in student council, unified sports club, academic teams, varsity cheerleading, soccer and track. She is a member of Living Faith Church where she helps with the children’s ministry and is worship leader in the youth group.
Lillian is a member of the Junior Leaders 4-H Club and enjoys working in their concession stand during fair week. Her future plans include obtaining a Bachelor of Political Science degree and then she plans to attend law school.
Lillian was sponsored by Rustic Touch Naturals Boutique.
Second runner-up in the Union County 4-H Fair Queen Pageant is Brooke Marcum, The 17-year-old is the daughter of Kevin and Jennifer Marcum and enjoys living on a farm with her three siblings raising pigs and cattle.
Brooke will be a senior at Union County High School this fall where she is a National Honor Society member and has served on student council. She participates in archery and serves as the Liberty FFA Chapter Secretary.
After graduation, Brooke plans to attend IU East to earn a nursing degree. She was sponsored by Campbell Auction Team.
The Queen Pageant included interviews with the judges earlier in the day and ended with each contestant responding to a randomly selected question from 2020 Union County 4-H Fair Queen Hayleigh Keasling.
Other queen contestants were: Contessa Fields, Kaylee Klein, Harleigh Keasling, Olivia Curry and Hayley Lester. Queen Contest judges were Debbie Bell, Hagerstown; Natali Miller, Rush County; and Nellie Mitchell, Hagerstown.
The Queen and her court are responsible for handing out awards following the judging of 4-H projects at the Union County 4-H Pre-Fair Judging, July 12-16 and the Union County 4-H Fair, July 17-23.
Little Union County Kambry Carson and Little Miss Personality Addison Flack will also assist the queen and her court during fair week.
The Union County 4-H Fair Queen Pageant is sponsored by the Union County 4-H Association. Union County Farm Bureau, Inc. sponsored the Little Union County Contest. Queen Pageant Committee members are Vanessa Mitchell, Melissa Wiwi, Dawn McCashland, Carrie Rosenberger, Laura Powers and Ashley Beckett.
