Terry James Laker, 32, of San Antonio, Texas, formerly of Brookville passed away Sunday, May 23, 2021, at his home.

He was born June 4, 1988, at Hahn Air Base in Germany, the son of Daryl Laker and Melissa (Nelson) Laker. On January 6, 2021, he married Lindsey Eberhart, and she survives.

In addition to Lindsey, Terry is survived by his father, Daryl Laker and step-mother, Gail, of Shelbyville; mother, Melissa Laker and step-father, Hank Hogben, of Carmel; sons, Troy Laker and Reece Roofener, both of San Antonio; brothers, Jeremy Laker and wife, Jessica, of Edwards Air Force Base, California, and Jesse Laker and wife, Kelly, of Minot Air Force Base, North Dakota; paternal grandmother, Marlene Laker of Beech Grove; maternal grandmother, Patsy Nelson of Ocala, Florida; nieces, Jocelyn Laker and Jadyn Laker; and mother-in-law, Nicole Butler and husband, Kale, of Charlotte, North Carolina. He also leaves behind his one of a kind dog, Dozer.

Terry was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Robert Laker; and maternal grandfather, Lee Nelson.

He graduated in 2006 from Franklin County High School in Brookville. He studied avionics at American Military University and received his associates degree from Community College of the Air Force.

Terry was an active member of the U.S. Air Force for 15 years. He served as a United States Air Force Military Training Instructor for the last three years.
He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and loved Mopar. Terry was an avid fan of the Indianapolis Colts and Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

A gathering of friends will be from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, June 5, 2021 at Mount Pisgah Baptist Church, 3718 E. Blue Ridge Road in Shelbyville.

A Celebration of Terry’s life will begin at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the church, with Chaplain Robb Barlow U.S. Army officiating. Military honors will follow.
Inurnment will be at Crown Hill National Cemetery at a later date.

Services were entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville. Memorial contributions may be made to 22Kill, 13625 Neutron Road, Dallas, TX 75244.
