“I love conducting research, constantly learning and teacher,” said Bullock. “This position gives me the opportunity to learn something new every day and apply what I have learned to help others.”
A southeastern Indiana native, Bullock grew up in Decatur County.
Southeastern Indiana is where she developed a love for the outdoors by helping out on the family farm in Clarksburg and guiding horseback rides in Metamora. Bullock married her husband in July of 2020, and they now reside on the family farm.
Bullock's love of the outdoors followed her to Purdue University where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in natural resources and environmental science with a concentration in wildlife.
Bullock also worked two seasons at Versailles States Park as an interpretive naturalist educating the public about Indiana's natural resources. Post-graduation, Bullock worked as a Purdue Extension Associate Educator and wildlife field technician.
Bullock has spent a lot of time traveling over the past years. She spent six months in Australia, three months in Idaho and two months in Tennessee. In Idaho, she worked for Idaho Fish and Game doing trout and salmon surveys and worked for the Idaho Department of Natural Resources Division of Forestry as a karst technician conducting cave and bat surveys.
While those may have been incredible experiences, Bullock said she is happy to be back home.
“That time away made me realize how much I really love southeastern Indiana and my family roots,” said Bullock. “I am very excited to be back local in a fulltime position and be near my family again.”
Bullock said she believes her experience gained doing fieldwork, research, and creating programs will be immensely helpful in her new position.
“I plan to use my natural fieldwork experience to present a variety of natural resource programs that are relevant for Franklin County,” said Bullock.
Bullock plans to spend her first few months networking and figuring out the wants and needs of the community in regard to programming.
“I want to create impactful programs that Franklin County residents are excited to learn about and want to attend,” said Bullock.
Bullock can be contacted at [email protected] or by calling the Franklin County Extension Office at 765-647-3511.
