Pull up a barrel: Brookville on Tap rolls through again
August 9, 2023 at 12:10 a.m.
This past Saturday, Brookville started off the weekend with Brookville on Tap! This event was based in the alley behind Third Place where multiple vendors and brewing companies came in to show off their products, offer free samples, and sell their merchandise. This year we had about 20 different vendors come out and each one brought some of their best work, various flavors, and small samples to showcase how these drinks were made.
Starting off, there was Porter, who was selling ice cream. One of the new flavors made for Brookville on Tap was a beer ice cream with caramel drizzle and chocolate flakes. This made for a sweet treat to end the night.
Sitting next to Porter was Hoppy Days Brewery! This vendor provided some shirts and hats for patrons with colorful designs.
TylarDraws was in attendance and for those who don't know his work, you can find him on Instagram. Tylar is based out of Indianapolis and creates custom drawings and designs, which are then printed onto merchandise. Available were sticker packs, buttons, water bottles, prints, canvases, and much more. Each design was vibrant and raw, and really catered to the unique tastes and quirks one might have.
The Two Bearded Guys returned this year again. They were selling shirts for patrons and speaking up about their Livecast, which premieres every Monday. To follow them, these guys can be found on social media.
Brookville's very own Alyssa Brown had a booth set up called Moonlit Enchantments Intention Candles. These candles were homemade with various affirmations and words of encouragement to meet the mental and emotional needs/wants of those who seek serenity and calm in their lives. Alyssa can always be found on social media or at Third Place.
A popular vendor also includes Moondrops Distillery, based out of Fortville. Brought for the patrons were bourbon, moonshine, and vodka with exemplary flavors, rich tastes, and endless samples. When speaking to Sam O'Connor, he stated that his distillery uses all Indiana Grain and when finished, they separate the water from the grains and return it to the farmers to feed livestock (once it's been cleared and deemed safe). The moonshine was a huge hit for Moondrops Distillery with Orange Dreamsicle, Peppermint, Apple Pie, and Lemon Shake.
5 Arch Brewing Company, based out of Centerville, brought in E-Star Amber Ale, Wheat Lemon Coriander, and Onis, a New England IPA.
Field Brewing brought out a Reunion Citrus, Checkered Pass, Self-Centered, and Backroads samples, each hand-crafted with twists and flavors for a broad variety of taste. This company is based out of Westfield.
Susan Reising brought Vodka Squeeze to Brookville on Tap. She offered several individual flavored vodka pouches and a few options of vodka-based lemonade. This received a lot of praise due to the sweetness and fruity flavors while providing the barest hint of vodka for a summer refresher. Some of the available flavors were Orange, Apple, Blueberry, and Cinnamon.
Returning this year was Hard Truth Distillery/Quaff On Brewing Company based out of Nashville. This vendor brings in dark, rich Ale, Rum, and Bourbon, each with a distinguished sample for maximum tasting.
Distillery 64 provided small batch spirits and five options of Artisan Cocktails. Alongside selling shirts with their samples, this vendor had four glasses on display with individual components and ingredients they use in their products.
Four Finger Distillery, based out of Indinapolis, provided various Spirits, Whiskey, Vodka, and Gin.
Set up for the patrons was RJ LeatherWorks, out of Anderson. This booth was packed with uniquely created, leather wallets, bags, key straps, bottle openers, can coozies, belts, and a fan-favorite, his novelty coasters. Not for the weak, RJ provided up to five different boxes of engraved coasters that would spice up the workplace and enhance the banter or be the perfect gag gift for friends and family. If you made it through these boxes with a laugh, RJ had a special sack with five random coasters in them.
Side by side were Tom Bullocks and Ballotin Chocolate Whiskey. While there are brands all over, some of the favorite samples were a Burnt Orange Bourbon, Wheat Whiskey (Birdie Brown), and a Chocolate Peanut Butter Liquor that was creamy, smooth, and sharp to taste.
Down the line was Jeptha Creed Bourbon. Several samples brought Rye Bourbon Mash, Blueberry Vodka, Cinnamon Moonshine, and Apple Pie Moonshine. Many patrons loved the Apple Pie Moonshine overall.
Run by Brandon Ball was Hotel Tango Distillery, owned by Travis Barnes. Barnes served in Iraq for three years before he moved to open his distillery. Barnes applicated the rigorous work he endured in the military to make his whisky with precision and unwavering commitment. The top creation are spirits, and each one are a reflection of Barnes' standards and mannerisms. His spirits include Bourbon, Reserve Bourbon, Rye Whiskey, Vodka, Gin, Wild Rum, Cherry Liqueur, Orangecello, Lemoncello, Red, White, & Bourbon, 'shmallow, and Pride.
Fieldstone Farms out of Mulberry, brought in a plethora of freeze-dried candies for patrons to sample and buy. There were dozens of flavors, they could be smooth or crunchy, and each one was made with intense patience and care. To order some or learn more about them, they can be found at fieldstonefarms.com.
Another returning vendor is Brookville's very own Brookville Brewing Co, owned by Michael and Valerie Taylor. This was their third year with the event, but six years brewing. They are home-based and provided a Kolsch, A New England IPA, and a Blueberry Sour for sampling pleasure.
Creek Bottom Brewery out of Oldenburg, brought some big time classics for the patrons incuding a Blonde Ale, Smoketoberfest, Tropical IPA, and a Hard Cider. Creek Bottom also had hats and shirts to sell. They can be found at creekbottombrew.com.
Next to them were Off Hours Bourbon out of Lawrenceburg. They specialize in whiskey and provided some custom bags and coozies for patrons to carry their purchases in. Also provided were a Citrus, Zero, and Cranberry. To learn more about them, they can be found at drinkoffhours.com.
Tarnished Hollow of Elwood, was next, providing various merchandise with their beers. Each one was vibrant and different, and encapsulated the elements most find in science-fiction, fantasy, mystery, unexplainable, and reality. Their crafts are the very same as they are made with diverse styles and recipes, and brewing discipline, therefore standing out from the crowd. They can be found on Facebook, Instagram, and online.
Lastly, Perry Vine Wine of South Bend, brought Mead and Cider for tasting in three delicious flavors: Honey, Strawberry, and Peach. They also had custom shirts available.
Brookville on Tap had so many incredible vendors come out and make this event fantastic. Third Place provided custom pizzas, water was available, and a popcorn stand was set up. The overcast weather provided a cool and comfortable outdoor experience.
Brookville also wants to thank Indiana on Tap for bringing this opportunity to Franklin County, and plan for another successful event next year.
