Brian E. Casteel

Brian E. Casteel, age 65, of Connersville died Monday, November 20, 2023 at his residence in rural Franklin County following a lengthy illness.

Born October 19, 1958 in Connersville he was the son of the late Ralph Eugene and Genova Dell (Edwards) Casteel.  He was a graduate of the former Brookville High School in Brookville with the class of 1977.  On March 28, 1986 he and the former Paula Middleton were united in marriage and she survives.

Brian was a member of the Buena Southern Missionary Baptist Church, the United Autoworkers Union, ABATE of Indiana.   In his leisure time he was an accomplished musician and songwriter; enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson, and was a loyal Cleveland Browns fan.  

Besides Paula, his loving wife of over 37 years, survivors include two children, Nakia (Benny) Thompson of Connersville and Travis (Sydney White) Casteel of Connersville; two sisters, Brenda (Steve) Frey of Oxford, Ohio and Beth (Rodney) Johnson of Laurel; six grandchildren, Emma Gene Isaacs, River Allen Thompson, Gunner Caz Thompson, Tanner Thompson, Tucker Thompson, Ryder Thompson; a great-grandson, Benny Miller.  

Family and friends visited Monday, November 27, 2023 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home, 1025 Franklin Avenue, Brookville.

Rev. Rob Edwards, pastor of Buena Southern Missionary Baptist Church, officiated the Funeral Service at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at Buena Southern Missionary Baptist Church, 25220 Chapel Road, Laurel, Indiana.  Burial followed in Maple Grove Cemetery in Brookville.
