Carris Thomas Richardson, age 92, of Laurel died Thursday, November 16, 2023 at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati.

Born November 29, 1930, in Hamilton, Ohio, he was the son of the late Jessie and Hattie (Rose) Richardson.  He was united in marriage to the former Dorothy Jane Bennett, and she preceded him in death on June 14, 2012.

Carris was retired having been self employed for much of his life in construction.  In his leisure time he enjoyed hunting for ginseng, panning for gold, and metal detecting.  He was a member of the Indiana Sheriff's Association.

Survivors include 10 children, Darlene Shepard of Rushville, Timothy Carris Richardson of Shirley, Thomas Luther Richardson of Connersville, Gloria JoAnn Jones of Laurel, William Paul Richardson of Metamora, Terry Wayne Richardson of Laurel, Nathan J. Richardson of Connersville, Daniel Joseph Richardson of Laurel, Silas D. Richardson of Brookville and Carris Smith of Brookville; a sister, Thelma Lewis of Buena Vista, a brother, Earl 'Sonny' Richardson of Newark, New Jersey as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, and wife Dorothy Jane, he was preceded in death by siblings, Dorothy, Edith, Gladys, Melvin, Wallace, Mildred and Samuel.

Family and friends visited Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at Metamora Church of God, 20152 U.S. Highway 52, Laurel, Indiana.

Pastor Wayne Ison officiated the funeral services at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at the Metamora Church of God.  Burial followed in Stipps Hill Cemetery.
