Jerold “Jerry” Rahe Dunbar

Jerold “Jerry” Rahe Dunbar, of Sunman, was born on April 14, 1943, in Batesville, a son to Floyd and Caroline Elizabeth Rahe Dunbar.  He married the love of his life, Patricia “Pat” Bischoff on September 23, 1967, and she preceded him in death after 43 years of marriage.  They had one son, Ronald Todd Dunbar, who also preceded them in death.  Jerry attended Sunman High School and worked as a truck driver his entire working career.  In retirement he enjoyed helping on the farm with the Hartmans and Bischoffs.  For years he was active with the Ripley County 4-H, along with his wife Pat, supporting the rabbit project.  He was a member of the Hoosier Hills Car Club and enjoyed cruising in his ‘55 Ford.  Jerry enjoyed eating out and meeting with friends.  Jerry loved all people, especially his family, including many nieces and nephews and his church family at St. Nicholas Catholic Church.   On Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at the age of 80, he passed away at his residence.

Jerry will be greatly missed by his sister, Judy (Jeff) Ellis, and brothers, Lloyd Wayne (LaJo) Dunbar, and Melvin Dunbar as well as the Bischoff family.  

Friends visited with the family on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at Cook Rosenberger Funeral Home, 107 Vine Street, Sunman.  Rosary was recited at 1:30 p.m. Father Shaun Whittington officiated a Mass of Christian burial on Monday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Nicholas Church and interment followed in the church cemetery.
