Nancy B. Tinch

Nancy B. Tinch, age 96, of Brookville, died Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana in Columbus, Indiana.

Born March 12, 1927 in Buckhorn, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Andrew Jackson and Ruth (Deaton) Wilder.  On June 23, 1944 she was united in marriage to Paul N. Tinch Sr, and he preceded her in death on February 11, 2003.

A homemaker, Mrs. Tinch was a member of the Valley Christian Church in Brookville where she had taught vacation bible school.  

In her leisure time she enjoyed reading, gardening, traveling and was an animal lover and had several dachshunds with Cindy Sue her current dog, who survives her.

She loved western movies, and was known for her western clothing and boots.  She gave her life to the Lord at a young age, and has remained a faithful Godly woman throughout her life.  

Survivors include two children, Myrtle Ruth Brown of Columbus;  Paul N. Tinch of Connersville; six grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 13 great-great grandchildren with two more on the way.   

Besides her parents and husband, Paul N. Tinch Sr., she was preceded in death by three sisters, Myrtle Wilder West, Rose Wilder Murphy and her twin sister, Louise Wilder Smith, three brothers, Sherman Wilder, Hobert Wilder, Herbert Wilder, Frances Wilder; a daughter-in-law, Sonja “Jean” Tinch; a granddaughter, Sydney Carolyn Wright and a grandson, Jonathan M. Tinch.

Family and friends visited on Friday, December 22, 2023 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home, 1025 Franklin Avenue, Brookville.

Her grandson, Dr. Martin Wright, officiated the funeral service at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, December 23, 2023 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home.  Burial followed in Maple Grove Cemetery in Brookville.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Jonathan Tinch Memorial Scholarship Fund through the Franklin County Community Foundation or Valley Christian Church in Brookville.
