Jewel T. Ruf

Jewel T. Ruf, age 94, of Connersville, passed away on Sunday July 9, 2023 at Heritage House. Jewel was born December 2, 1928, in New Trenton, to the late Frank and Laura Myers Ruf. 

Jewel was a U.S. Army Veteran who served his country during the Korean War. After returning home, Jewel worked at D&M for 25 years, retiring in 1990. 

On Jan 26, 1952 Jewel married Ruth Lillian Quinlan Ruf; they were able to celebrate 47 years of marriage prior to her passing on Sept 25, 1999.

Jewel was a member of the Connersville American Legion Auxiliary Post 1.

He is survived by a son, Roy (Julie) Ruf, and his grandson Tyler Ruf, all of Rockford, Illinois. He will be remembered by his sister-in-law Elsie Broughton of Kenosha, Wisconsin. His memory will live on in his many nieces and nephews. 

In addition to his parents, and wife, Jewel is preceded in death by sisters Carrie Ruf, Elsie Ruf, and Maymie Kelly, and a brother Russell Ruf.

A visitation will be held at Urban Winkler Funeral Home, 513 W 8th Street Connersville, IN 47331 on Thursday July 13, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. led by Rev Robert E Lee.
